About Me

Hi, I’m David

I’m a digital marketer who likes solving a specific kind of problem: a business has something genuinely good going for it, but its marketing isn’t telling that story yet. That’s the gap I go after — whether it’s building an email lifecycle strategy, auditing a website that’s leaving money on the table, or digging into research data to figure out what actually motivates people to act.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Business Administration, concentrating in Marketing & Sales, cum laude with a 3.52 GPA. But the degree is really just the framework — the more useful part has been applying it to real problems for real people.

What I’ve actually done

I’ve run a full digital marketing consultation for a specialty retailer, using GA4 data and customer segmentation to rebuild their growth strategy from the ground up, and built out an email lifecycle framework designed to bring customers back. I’ve co-led a strategic marketing plan for a local boba tea shop, writing a promotional email campaign end-to-end and helping set concrete, measurable growth targets instead of vague goals. And I’ve run original research — 63 survey responses, real data, real recommendations — to help a nonprofit understand what actually drives college students to volunteer.

Along the way I picked up a Google Analytics (GA4) certification and a full HubSpot certification track (Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Digital Advertising), because I’d rather back up a strategy with a credential than just a claim.

Before marketing, there was leadership

Before any of that, I spent years in restaurant management — running a top-performing Dairy Queen location, leading a 15-person team, and later helping relaunch a Red’s Savoy Pizza location from the ground up. It’s not the most glamorous line on a marketing resume, but it’s where I actually learned how to manage people, stay calm under pressure, and get a team pointed in the same direction. Those are the same skills I bring to a marketing project — just pointed at strategy instead of a drive-thru window.

Prague changed how I think about all of it

During my time at UW-Eau Claire, I studied International Business abroad at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. It was the first time I had to operate entirely outside my own cultural assumptions — figuring out how business norms, communication styles, and even basic daily logistics shift from one place to the next, and learning to adapt quickly instead of defaulting to what I already knew.

That experience stuck with me more than I expected. It’s part of why I care about understanding an audience before I try to market to them — whether that audience is UWEC students being surveyed about volunteering, or a niche of cigar enthusiasts in Minnesota. You can’t write good strategy for people you haven’t actually tried to understand first. Prague is where that lesson really landed for me, and it’s shaped the way I approach every project since.

What’s next

I’m looking for a full-time role in digital marketing — ideally somewhere I can go deep on email and lifecycle marketing, brand strategy, or analytics, and eventually build toward the kind of role that isn’t tied to one location. Long-term, I’d like the flexibility to do great marketing work from wherever I am.

If any of this sounds like a fit, or you just want to talk shop, reach out — I’d like to hear from you.
